Great Speach Chris. TY! Just one question if you don´t mind: you criticize that people give an white paper, ebook whatever for getting an email adress on their homepage? But you do it even here on your blogpage. I am confused about that.

I don’t do it to collect marketing data. Show me that?

Chris says, RSS Feed is the best resource for all things social media. The New England Mortgage Expo is now the nation’s largest regional mortgage. The idea is that people will learn something new that they can carry forward into their business.

Great speech Chris. I too feel that RSS feed good for social media since it gives the connection we need to make with others.

Omg, this was a super fantastic talk. Now with getting my business started and just moving, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

Tons of great takeaways. This comment is more of just a collection of personal notes and hopefully useful for anyone who doesn’t have the time to watch the entire video (but you should).

The first one being about having a website but not doing the business online.

The next one is hat mobile matters. Design for mobile devices.

”If your little avatar picture is a logo right now, do not do that please, thank you. Humans love to see faces” (Applies to my business)

Unless you’re going after that elusive 18-24 year old demographic which I’ve never understood because they have no money. I like older people because they have money.

In relationship with brands, 4% of people twitter, 15% facebook, 93% open an email daily from a business of brand via email.

Sending something out with more than 1 exclamation mark is dead.

Plain text rules. 14 or 16px font size.

250 words. This is the twitter world.

Ask people for their email address for a newsletter.

Ask for the least amount of data possible.

Ask for First and Last Name and email for newsletters, so you can send to dear first name.

ABC is now Always Be Connecting.
Connecting is talking to them about what they’re into.

Business cards are a placeholder for a relationship extension.

My secret is to check someone’s birthday and facebook and then send them a happy birthday email.

    Referrals before meeting people.

    “The Referral Engine”

People want to see behind the scenes stuff. Use video.

YouTube is the #2 search engine in the world.

CRAP = Connecting, Referrals, Awareness/Attention, Presence

My GrandP won the award for being the best candy selling in New England. I asked him how did he do that because he never talked about candy. He said “exactly”

If you want transaction sales, open a McDonalds.

Yeah. THANK YOU CHRIS! (And the title of this post is deceptively not useful, lol)

Three minutes before it got to you…. The only way to get that time back, is set the video aside for later viewing……

Hey Chris, regarding to having a website and doing business online. Does it then make it crucial to optimize the buying process as much as possible, right from the start?

Or like in your car dealer example, would it have been sufficient for you if you could just call and get the car (without having to go in an test drive it)?

Thanks Chris – great information for me since I’m just getting started with my own business.

Hey Chris, so pleased that I was in the audience to watch your presentation, but equally as pleased that I had an opportunity to watch the video. Listening live the big takeway for me was the importance of Google Places for your business. First thing I did that evening was to update our profile as per your advice. From watching the video tonight, I was reminded about your thoughts on video and building an email list, all good stuff.
And  BTW, thank you for the “shout out” that was very kind and most appreciated by me.

See you next week in SF, really looking forward to IMS , West Coast style.
