Trust Agents on a Plane

Much better than snakes.

JetBlue Travel Cities

I’m plotting how best to use my JetBlue All-You-Can-Fly pass. Are you near any of these cities? Think you could get a bunch of people together in any of those cities to buy 100 or so books and show up for a signing at a local Barnes & Noble or Borders or Books-A-Million?

If you’re a company, think you could buy 300 copies and trade it for a half day of my time? (Sorry: I sold out of the 200 books offer, and after I get 5 people on the 300 books, it goes up to 500.)

And if none of that matters, isn’t it cool to think about flying any old place? (Well, I have to be closer to home and shorter trips, because the family asked me. But beyond that…)

I think this offer of JetBlue’s is revolutionary. And you known what? I’d buy a LARGER version of that if I could spread it out over a quarter at a time. It’s worth it for me after 2 trips. What about you?

I'm thinking you should do San Francisco. I'm sure we could scrounge up a few people to meet with you…

  • bradjward

If they only flew to Indy…… I'd be all over the map next month.

Even though my town is the tiniest of Tinys, I'd bet I could rally more than a few 'round DC way. Monuments, interesting folks and John Foster Dulles International Airport. How could you ask for more? ;)

I'd be more excited if it were Trust Agents On A Boat. :P

I'd love to tell you I could rally 100 people to the local B&N (actually, I think I could), but I'm about 2 hours away from the closest possible stop.

Hey Chris, we met at IMS09 briefly. I'm taking over SMC Dallas and I know we could make this happen. Too Bad Jet Blue doesn't come to Dallas. #smcdallas @dallassmc

    Chris,
SF would be a slam dunk. Plus hotel rates are down in the $130/night range. I could probably hook you up at the W.

I absolutely love the JetBlue offer and if I didn't have a one-year-old at home I'd be flying around the country like a madwoman. Meeting clients, networking with social folk, seeing family – whatever, I'd make it work. Do you have any NYC speaking gigs lined up?

  • http://wherewejet.com/ Jennifer Milano

Great to hear you have an All-You-Can-Jet pass! We would love for you to join our pass holder community over at http://wherewejet.com/travelers. We're all sharing itineraries and plotting to have meetups together. Maybe we can all show up at Barnes and Noble for you :)

  • joycemckee

Too bad Dallas is not on Jet Blue's route – I would have pulled something together for you Chris. It was great meeting you at the Inbound Summit in May and I would REALLY like to hear you speak in person, again. I guess I will just have to travel to one of the other cities or see you in October at your event in Boston. The fall leaves should be turning at that point – right?

Or I could pull together a caravan and we could drive to Austin. Let us know where you are going to be and we will be there!!

How about Oakland? I would happily drive over and see you Chris.

I am looking forward to reading the book.

We thought this was absolutely brilliant and would have taken advantage of it had we not already bought plane tix for the couple of places we're traveling during that time period anyway. Would have been perfect for us, but we got the non-refundables via Travelocity.

We would definitely look into and likely take advantage of any offer like this in the future, especially if we had a little more advance notice of it.

I would have been all over this but they don't fly out of anywhere near me. I wish other companies did this. I think it would save the airline industry. Either that or have them fly out of more cities.

I would have organized something in Memphis, we had Sarah Lacy come through here and had a great turn out

  • SBush1002

I know I could get 100+ people for a book signing (and to buy your book) if you came to Chicago. There are plenty of popular B&Ns, especially the one in downtown Chicago on the DePaul University campus (where I am a grad. student). Not only would you get college students, but you'd get tons of people showing up and buying books from the hundreds (perhaps thousands) of companies in the Chicago Loop.

  • http://twitter.com/ericleebow ericleebow

I bought it, it's worth it to me, but it doesn't include 1. hotel 2. car rental :)

I'm going to 15 cities, and it would have cost me well over 2 grand for flights alone, but I am now spending that on hotel stays. I opted out of sleeping in the rental car.

I'm sure we could get a crowd in Seattle, but it seems like someone more involved in the Seattle scene than me would be a better candidate to make it happen.

What's the suggested process for making it happen? Set it up with the bookstore first, then use their advertising channels, and find out what blogs to post on?

How do you get firm attendance numbers? Let's hear some ideas.

  • Timp2112

I'm not sure I can get 100 people to the event, but I'd join SBush1002 at the Chicago event and do what I could to spread the word. That B & N is a good location and I'd bet that there could be a lot of tie-in with your book and some classes at DePaul. Great idea to use the JetBlue Pass that way!

    Chris,

I work with Books-A-Million down here in Houston and even worked in the corporate headquarters in Birmingham. I'd arrange a 150-book signing party/meetup of like-minded individuals. Just say when and it'll happen.

what a great opp for jet blue to honor this request and buy 300 books and promote trust agents for their employees…not to mention comp your ticket.
how can we make that happen? seems so reasonable and so of their already attempt at good customer service mindset. you'd think they'd want to promote you. how can we help that way?

    Where's the Dallas stop?

  • AnaRC

    Hi Chris,
You must come to Rochester, NY. It's a small city but very technical and Social Media savy. I'm sure you'll sell over 300 books here. You can count with my help to organize it. JetBlue comes to ROC so just let me know when you're available and we'll start rocking.

  • beley

I'd drive the 5 hours to Jacksonville or Charlotte… too bad Atlanta isn't on the list.

Still, I'll see you in October at either BWE or Izeafest, so I'll be sure to get mine signed there! Good luck with the book tour!!

  • iheartpgh

I have the JetBlue pass too! I am working on a trip to visit some Steelers bars around the country! Not sure how the trip will look yet – but the pass seemed like a great way to go out and see the Pittsburgh community outside of Pittsburgh – the response thus far has been awesome – people keep sending in their favorite bars. While I will probably end up visiting some bigger cities – I would like to see some of the smaller ones too.
If our travel pass cross I would love to meet up! Lindsay

Chris, love to support your efforts here in Phx… give me a date and I'll see how we can get ppl there!

You should definitely come to DC. We've had tremendous turnout at recent SMC-DC events, I'm certain people would come to a book signing or Q&A, or whatever. I'm jealous you bought the pass, I thought about it myself. :-)

  • http://www.showclix.com/ Lynsie

You know your friends in Pittsburgh will support you. At least you can count me in :)

  • http://mark-hayward.com/ Mark

Hey Chris – Here's an idea…I'll see if I can pull together a couple hundred folks down here in Puerto Rico to buy your book, especially since we are working to put together PodCamp PR.

However, I am going to recommend that instead of book signings, glad handing, etc…you bring your family along and just take a well-deserved vacation.

If you like, perhaps a barbecue on the beach for the purposes of community building could be organized.

    Chris,

You're always welcome to visit Phoenix. We have a large geek and social media community here. Seriously. Not sure about buying hundreds of books, but I think connecting with you is always beneficial and helps strengthen our bonds as a budding tech startup hub.

Mad props if you could ever come down and drop in on a Gangplank brown-bag Wednesday. (http://gangplankhq.com) (http://gangplankhq.com/events/). You might get 100 book sales or so, I dunno.
