Wear Your Rockstar Status With Pride

November 5, 2008 · Comments

rockstar badge - get the code below! Thanks to some crowdsourcing on Twitter tonight, I have a nifty new badge for you to put up on your blog. If you’re one of the Rockstars who is part of this community, make sure you add your name to the list (I update the submissions every handful of days). I’d love to make sure people know you’re part of the community here!

To that end, I’m proud to share some badges that you can put on your blog, created by some friends. I’d be honored if you want to put them on your blog, and I’ve included the code to copy and paste into your template to do so. If you’re not YET listed on the Rockstars page, I’ll be sure to get you up there soon.

The Badges

Here’s one from Joe Geoghan of the PJFM Show podcast:

Copy and paste this into your blog’s sidebar area to wear it:

<a href="http://www.chrisbrogan.com"><img src="http://www.chrisbrogan.com/img/rockstarlogo.jpg" alt="Chris Brogan says I'm a Rockstar!"></a>

Here’s one from Eric Rasmussen from CoffeeHouse Ideas:

Copy and paste this into your blog’s sidebar area to wear it:

<a href="http://www.chrisbrogan.com"><img src="http://www.chrisbrogan.com/img/rockstarlogo2.jpg" alt="Chris Brogan says I'm a Rockstar!"></a>

Check out this widget that Faryl from Fearless Blogger made:

You just click the SHARE button to get the embed code for this one, or she put many other variations up on her site as well.

I got this super rocking design from Gahlord from Thought Faucet (hope that’s the best URL you’d want me to use):

Copy and paste this into your blog’s sidebar area to wear it:

<a href="http://www.chrisbrogan.com"><img src="http://www.chrisbrogan.com/img/rockstarlogo3.jpg" alt="Chris Brogan says I'm a Rockstar!"></a>

I’m also pretty excited about the badges from Natasha Wescoat of NatashaWescoat.com came up with. (Her website is really nice, by the way.):

Copy and paste this into your blog’s sidebar area to wear it:

<a href="http://www.chrisbrogan.com"><img src="http://www.chrisbrogan.com/img/rockstarlogo4.jpg" alt="Chris Brogan says I'm a Rockstar!"></a>

There are 3 other variations here.

Steven Hall from Steven Hall has a whole SET of Rockstar graphics to share. So maybe you want a different color? Check with Steven. He’s done a bunch. : )

I got a few more after this post went up, but if you want to put up your variations in the comments, that’s super cool by me. And thanks to everyone who participated. It was really fun to see how fast this turned into a fun little project.

Oh, and I’m very grateful to all of you who are Rockstars, and by that, I mean, the people who make this site actually WORTH anything.

  • I like the one from Eric Rasmussen! It's proud to be a rock star!
  • They all look similar, hard to pick from the bunch.
  • Thanks Chris! I just posted the Joe Geoghan badge on my blog. It looks great!
  • Great initiative, Chris, as usual!
  • So my boss just asked why I was standing on the desk playing the air guitar...
  • This weirds me out. Aside from that, shouldn't rockstar status be *elected* rather than *appointed*?
  • And the best design goes to...Eric Rasmussen from CoffeeHouse Ideas!
I think this design is really cool and stands out more than the others.
We have also come up with some pretty cool design and logo for shapeourbrand.com. So, feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.

    Thanks,
    Shape
  • julien
    brilliant dude. :)
  • Great idea. Can you explain your communications strategy? Is this part of a shift from Chris Brogan the destination to Chris Brogan the network? How does relationship equity fit into this consideration? Or is this a test?
  • I'm a rock star, cool. Thanks Chris!
  • The Joe Geoghan badge definitely classed up my blog a bit. Thanks.
  • Thanks for including mine, Chris! I feel honored! :-)

To make it easier for folks who may not be able to use flash widgets on their sites, I'll be posting straight jpgs that link to your site as well.
  • Retweeted this for you Chris,
Love this! I'd be into some color variety. Any artist/photoshop monkey out there? Be cool if there was one with a rocket ship. :)

  • Chris, you're the rockstar! Thanks!
  • Thanks for the badge options...this was an awesome idea! I have posted a badge on both blogs. Keep up the great work!
  • This is a pretty cool idea and a great way to rally the troops to form their own community around themselves/you. Great Job.
  • Graphic added! Thanks, Chris.
  • An idea for you: I love the "Wear Your Rockstar Status With Pride" badges - super awesome!

Idea: get those designs onto Zazzle.com or Cafepress and enable people to get these and shirts and proudly wear their Rockstar status.

I'm imagining all the Rockstars who would wear shirts like that at conferences. Would be really fun and extend your brand further at conferences.

In the example with Zazzle which I'm most familiar with since they have been one of my clients, they make it easy: it's quick to set up and they handle all payments and fulfillment; you don't even have to get inventory, people can buy whatever quantity they want and Zazzle handles the rest.

Another idea: like the fabulous Jose Castillo does with his "Think Jose" shirts, these can also make for nice leave behind gifts that you hand out now and then.

Any way, if you set that up, I'd get one of these on a shirt, and wear my Rockstar status with great pride at conferences!

    Rock on!
  • Dude....what can I say....you are brillant!
  • Hey Chris, these look great, but I have one question about the code that you have posted for people to copy & paste. Why did you choose to have them link to ChrisBrogan.com as opposed to linking directly to http://www.chrisbrogan.com/rockstars/ ? Even though you're a very popular blogger, I would guess that the varied audiences of the blogs who add this badge might not all know what a Chris Brogan Rockstar even is and even though it's just one click away they might not even make it to your actual Rockstars page.

From both your standpoint and all of the bloggers out there who are on your list I'm thinking that it would be more beneficial to take them there with no detours, but maybe you have some better insight on why you're taking them to just your homepage. Just something I noticed, no big deal either way, but I was just curious to hear why you made the decision.
  • looks nice dude...my offer still stands on original music embed for that page ;)

    let me know !
  • Just curious, Chris, you write "DIY just as the web should be" but ... no transparency? I mean, you more than anyone else knows the power of such social gestures / trops ... but who's doing the selecting?

I was one of the early crowd who pointed out how digg distorts the field even when it isn't gamed; those who get attention are given attention which brings attention which justifies more attention. You know what I mean.
  • Thanks, Chris, Joe Geoghan's badge looks great on my blog! Wonderful idea - thanks for adding me to the list!
  • This is awesome. Already added it. Thank you!
  • I want to be a rockstar too!
  • Where do I send the bribe $ to make it on the list? (smirk)
